It has been crazy windy here (as evidenced by the numerous fires that are raging). So windy, in fact, that we have been unable to even play outside in the evening it was so miserable. Thankfully (especially for the firefighters!) the wind was less today and we got rid of some much needed energy outside. Lots of people have been concerned about us. Thankfully all the fires are far enough away that we haven't been much affected. School was cancelled today due to fire concerns, but they will be back at school tomorrow.
Some Sundays are rather stressful around here. We do our best to try to limit what we do so we do not feel overwhelmed, but I often feel exhausted at the end of the day.
Today was really nice, though. Jeff has had to go in early a lot of recent Sundays for meetings, but today he didn't, which made for a much more relaxed morning.
The kids got to play outside before we left.
After church we picked up our tree and came home and decorated it. We listened to Christmas music, drank hot chocolate, ate popcorn, and got our Christmas decorations up. The kids watched a Christmas peanuts movie while Jeff and I facetimed with some old friends. All in all, today was delightful.
Confession: Even though I love crafting and making things, I am not gifted in the party planning department. I can never get my act together quickly enough to get things planned and I have never had a big table full of thematic food in front of a nice back drop. There is a part of me that wants to have a beautiful spread with tons of games and crafts, but I usually just try to plan a small gathering at a park. Then the kids can play on the playground and we can eat and everyone goes home happy.
We gave Ezra a bat, glove, and baseball mitt because he loves playing with all kinds of balls and throwing. After eating, we also walked over to a model train museum next door to the park. A train came by and we all waved.
