9 month...er... 10 month "well" visit

This past week I finally got Judah checked out for his 9 month well visit. Here are his stats: Weight: 20 lbs., 30th percentile (I really was surprised this wasn't more, but I think if he hadn't had the GI bug and ensuing bad appetite he wouldn't have dropped down quite so much on the growth curve. That plus the fact that he is cruising/crawling everywhere now probably made him drop down some. Not that I'm worried about it - he's certainly eating well and growing.) Height: 30 in, 86% - still tall like his daddy Head - 49cm , 99% - yep, still with the big ole' noggin like his mamma At 10 months, he FINALLY has a tooth. From some research I did during residency, I knew it was normal for kids not to get their first tooth until 11 or 12 months, but when all the other babies his age already have 4 or 6 teeth, I was starting to wonder if we'd need baby dentures or something. His second bottom tooth looks like it's also about to pop through. He's ...

For evidence of how he's growing....

4 month check up

So here are the stats: Weight: 15.1 pounds (56%) Height: 26 inches (81%) Head: 18 inches (95%) - yep, still my boy.... The nurse who measured his head actually came back to measure it again once she saw where it was on the graph - she was surprised it was so high. And the repeat: exactly the same. He just keeps getting more fun. He's a lot more vocal (as evidenced by the videos) and loves holding onto things and looking around. He likes tummy time a lot more and can roll over both directions, although he doesn't do it very often. I think he's just kind of lazy - he knows that if he fusses enough when he's on his stomach, eventually his mom will just turn him over herself. We're also getting into a better routine, and he's getting better at going down for naps and at night. He's not really napping in his swing anymore, which I'm happy about. The swing was wonderful and I wouldn't have done it any different since that was initially the only place we co...

2 month check up

Judah had his two-month check up today. We love our doctor - he's one of my attendings, Dr. Tiller. He always jokes about how (insert cute thing Judah does) is a sign of intelligence. Today he told us that people who root for National League teams have higher IQs than those who root for American League teams. Judah is (obviously) smiling, able to hold his head up well, kicking his legs a lot, and making cooing noises. He's getting better at getting his hands to his mouth - I really think he's going to be a thumb or finger sucker, but right now he mostly just gets his knuckle in his mouth. For those who are curious: He weighs 12lbs, 12 oz (75% - thank you, Mama, for the good milk) Is 23.5inches long (75% - Thank you, Daddy, for the tall genes) And his head is 43 cm around. (>95% - Thank you, Mama, for the huge noggin genes) He had to get his first set of shots. Everyone told me I would cry. I didn't. I hate to see him sad, but deep down I know that vaccines are super ...
