New bag

Since I only have one more day before I have to start back to working (I'll be starting my surgery rotation on Monday), I decided I needed something to prove that I haven't totally wasted these two weeks off. (Because I definitely have not spent most of my days chilling watching various movies checked out from the library or watching episodes of Gilmore Girls. No. Not me.)

Today was the day for a project. The other day I decided I wanted to bag to take to the gym that was smaller and cuter than the big sports bag I've been using. (Plus, that bag has the name of a residency on it that I didn't rank first, and I'm not sure I will be allowed to advertise other residency programs once I actually start my job.) So here is what I came up with:

Cute and girly. And just the right size for a water bottle, magazine, headphones, and my long-sleeved t-shirt. Here is another view:
And here is the inside, including an actual zippered pocket that I made. The pocket is also lined on the inside with the blue fabric from the outside.
And here is a close-up of the my initial, which I attached using the wonder-under iron on fuser.

I (sort of) used this free pattern here (with some adjustments). And used these directions for the zippered pocket. I'm pleased with the outcome, but the drawstrings could have been better. Maybe for the next one I'll get that figured out.

I'm not sure what it is, but something about sewing really satisfies this crafty hankering I get every now and again. At least I usually end up with something I can use from it. And unlike the hankering I get for baking, sewing doesn't leave me with platefuls of chocolate desserts I then have to consume.

Maybe for my next project, I'll try this one.

CUTE. And the pattern you linked to
for your next project is REALLY cute. Glad you liked the picture of Sam and his penguin pal... he needs a name. Maybe that's a good job for Jeff? Feel free to steal & post the picture to show off how much of a hit your crafty gifts are!

And I'm certainly not looking forward to chilling and watching episodes of Gilmore Girls. No. Not me, either.
