Sewing updates!

There are still a few projects I'd like to finish before this baby comes, but I have been pleased with the three things I've been able to sew recently. First up was a new geranium dress I made for Naomi a few months ago. I had bought this fabric ages ago, intending to sew a dress and was happy to finally get it done. I love the fabric and of course sewing this one made me want to do a few more. While I was at it, I also made a smaller dress for a friend's baby since I always feel like it is just as easy to make two at the same time. Here is Naomi wearing the dress, which looks even more adorable on. My thirsty, post-nap model: I loved this fabric, too: The really big project, though, was a twin-sized quilt for Naomi's eventual big girl bed. Even though she's going to be in a toddler bed for a while, I wanted to make something that would last longer than the toddler bed stage. I was thinking that I had essentially copied exactly this quilt from a fav

The great room change

To get ready for this baby (who is coming in 7 weeks or so !!), we put a toddler bed into Judah's room for Naomi to sleep in. We haven't actually started letting her sleep in there yet, since I keep going back and forth between wanting to switch her before the baby comes and waiting a few months until the baby actually needs his or her own room. But while my mom was here, I figured it would be the best time to go ahead and get everything ready. Here is the "before" shot, messy bookshelf, unmade bed and all: And here is the "after" shot: I'd still like to hang more stuff on the walls to make this space above Naomi's bed a little more girly, but I was very happy with how nicely everything fit. You can see Judah's little feet,  testing out the new bed. And here is Naomi trying it out. She loved it. She frequently says she wants to sleep in her new bed before bed and nap time, so I may try to go ahead and move her sooner, but I'm tot

Vicarious Nesting

I can't believe it's been over two months since I last wrote something. Such is life when you are pregnant with your third and working. Sigh. Hopefully someday I'll be able to write more. My mom is currently visiting us, which is awesome! Since she has been here, she has cleaned: All our drawers in our kitchen Our oven Our cabinets Our pantry Our laundry room The kitchen sink (This might not seem like much, but we have this old porcelain sink that was super stained and no matter how much I cleaned it, it still was stained and dirty. My mom worked her magic and it now looks pristine.) Countless loads of laundry Countless loads of dishes My sewing area (I did help a tiny bit here.) Helped me clean and rearrange Judah's room so we could set up a bed in there for Naomi Bathrooms Microwave Refrigerator And I seriously might be leaving a few things off the list. Not included are all the books she has read, games she has played, nor legos and baby dolls she ha
