After 26 months (not consecutively :))of breastfeeding I can add a few:
-Once latch is established and mom feels comfortable try the three main positions-it helps drain different areas of the breast which can help with clogged ducts, mastitis, etc.
Also, when nursing or pumping if you apply gently pressure to tender areas on your breast (where the milk is) it will help them drain evenly also-and speed up your pumping!
-My sis-in-law learned from a lactation consultant that if baby is falling asleep apply downward pressure on breast to give that squirt of milk to help wake baby up
-Also, breast milk is the best thing for cracked, dry nipples! I've had my fair share of nursing problems (sick babies, bad latchers, plugged ducts) and I'm always glad I stuck it out. one of the keys is asking for help when you need it (it's just a boob, people). There are very few problems that can't be overcome if you are determined.Anniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12398736996586649228noreply@blogger.com
